February 1 2020: Reach the World: Personal Outreach.

To reach the world as the discipleship the personal outreach is very important. We shall put into practice the outreach program especially during the Sabbath day or Sabbath School Class. Regardless of these there many tactic prepared by General Conference to help outreach program in the local churches.

There are all kinds of outreach activities a Sabbath School or a Sabbath School class can put into practice. One instructional resource, Enriching Sabbath School (published by the South American Division of SDAs), mentions the following:

Develop an outgoing, friendly environment in class. This is to be done on a continuing basis. A Sabbath School class should train itself always to be attentive and friendly to members and visitors alike.

Plan ways and means to help people that the class members are familiar with who have particular needs. Adopt a class outreach project.

Set up a visitation schedule to visit non-attendees, members who are sick, etc. Get as many class members involved as possible. Give Bible studies.

Traditionally, Sabbath School has been the organization that reached out into the community, made friends for Jesus, and connected these friends to the church. In fact, in years past, Sabbath Schools became so active in the community that the position of personal ministries director (also known as home missionary leader, lay activities leader) was added to the church officer list. The personal ministries director was to assist in coordinating outreach projects of Sabbath School members along with other projects, and to ensure proper follow-up of new members.
